Multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, composer-arranger, songwriter, and producer Ric Frank has been leading jazz groups in New York City since 1975, playing world-famous venues such as The Blue Note, Folk City, Jazz Forum, and Ali's Alley. Ric's work has been shaped by his studies with musical greats Frank Foster, Sam Rivers, Jeremy Steig, Steve Grossman, Lenny Pickett, Perry Robinson, Julius Baker, Samuel Baron, Dr. Michael White, and Jamey Aebersold. Ric's compositions have garnered multiple Meet the Composer awards, ASCAP Plus Awards and a Just Plain Folks Music Award. In addition to original compositions, Ric's groups present a variety of jazz classics.
For the current edition Ric has assembled a group of seasoned professional: Omar Kabir - trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and didgeridoo; Gordon Radford - piano; Ratzo Harris - 6-string bass; Bob DeMeo - drums.
Ric Frank -- soprano, alto, tenor saxophones, flute, alto flute, piccolo, Eb soprano flute, clarinet, and bass clarinet. Ric has performed with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Rashid Ali, Perry Robinson, Ray Santos Caribbean Music Experience, Louis Ramirez, Steve Tintweiss, Armando Manaznero, and Yolandita Monge.
Omar Kabir - trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and didgeridoo. Omar has played with David Murray Big Band, Cecil Taylor Orchestra, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Charlie Haden's Liberation Orchestra, Jimmy Owens Big Band, Cirque du Soleil, and was an original cast member of Fame, the musical.
Gordon Radford - piano. Gordon has performed with Donald Byrd, David Sanborn, Eric Clapton. Gordon was a faculty member at Berkeley School of Music.
Razto Harris - 6 string bass. Ratzo has recorded with Denny Zeitlin, Mose Allison, Ken Werner, Janet Lawson, Jane Ira Bloom, Royce Campbell, Connie Crothers, and Mike Nock.
Bob DeMeo - drums. Bob has performed with Ted Curson, Eartha Kitt, Steve Lacy, Mal Waldron, Joe Lee Wilson, Junior Cook, Freddie Hubbard, Johnny Griffin, Jackie McLean, Michel Petrucciani, Shelia Jordan, Slide Hampton, Charles McPherson, and Barney Kessel.
